Love and Misery from Sinners & Saints

Feb 14 2014

Charlotte-based folk duo, Sinners & Saints, today released their debut full-length, Love and Misery. The album blends the group's mix of folk, roots and Americana with frontman, Perry Fowler's wholehearted and quick-witted lyrics. They've been making a name for themselves, playing up and down the Southeast.

We're happy to play our part in helping Fowler and upright bassist Mark Baran spread their sound. Stream the full album for free on Bandcamp and check out a review of the album on Charlotte Creative Loafing.

Don't Call It a Comeback

Jan 1 2014

It's been over two years since our last transmission. Although it seems we haven't been up to anything, it hasn't been as dead as it seems over the past 28 months.

We designed and printed a bunch of Metroid Metal merch for the band's performances at PAX, MAGFest and various other festivals and expos. Some of those shirts are still available in the store. As well, we worked with Stemage on some less glamorous web design and development tasks, as he's been busy. In addition to rapidly growing his discography, he just returned from BitSummit MMXIV in Kyoto, Japan.

In December 2011, we partnered with RFC Media to help launch the Third Rock Radio website. The online radio station features news and developments from NASA mixed into a "new rock/indie/alternative" format. The website has since been taken over internally by RFC, but we were happy to do our part in getting it launched.

Last but not least, we're constantly looking for new artists and bands that can use our help. 2014 is shaping up to be a good year. We should have 2-3 releases coming down the pike between now and the summer. We'll have more on some of those soon.

Stemage Returns with Zero Over Zero

Aug 15 2011

Stemage (aka Grant Henry), the man responsible for the origins of Metroid Metal and 2006's Strati, has released a new solo album, Zero Over Zero. According to Grant, the album is an "instrumental narrative" based on the 1978 Romero classic Dawn of the Dead. The songs are rhythm guitar heavy and influenced by the myriad rock genres which have inspired Grant over the years, most notably Rob Crow's song structures (or lack thereof) with Heavy Vegetable and Thingy.

Visit the Release page for links to stream and download the album from Bandcamp, Amazon and iTunes. A limited edition package with a CD in an Eco wallet, a 6.5" print and stickers, bundled in an 7" Arigato Pak, is also available.

Welcome to the New Silent Uproar Records

May 27 2011

It's been a long time coming, but we've launched a new version of the Silent Uproar Records website. While we tend to only release 1-2 albums per year, it's still important to give our artists and catalog the organization and respect they deserve.

We'll be rolling out small updates and new content as we go along. If you'd like to keep up with our plans, please sign up for the mailing list.

In music news, we're ramping up for a new full-length from Stemage and a reissue from Charlotte, North Carolina's Nemo (there are about 11 other Nemos around the world, so we're releasing it as Nemo 1934). We'll have more dates and details soon.

PAX East, New Website

Mar 8 2011

We're heading up to PAX East in Boston, MA this weekend with the guys from Metroid Metal. Stop by Bandland, say hello and pick up some MM merch.

In other news, we're in the process of overhauling this label website. It's being designed right now and then will get coded up. We hope to launch it ahead of some upcoming releases we're excited about.
